The workhorse of my work! The Parts van!

It's a 2000-something E-series van. There's so little to write about here I don't know why I'm actually bothering. It revs, and makes noise, and goes faster. It goes faster at quite a good pace because it's super light. Really though, this thing's basically a Lotus: Simplify and add lightness. The same lightness makes it ride like a matchbox car in a paint shaker. Rough. The seats don't help whatsoever either. BUT THIS THING'S A RACECAR. IT'S GOT A LIVERY. And the passenger door doesn't work, because why not? Don't even think about starting to move on something slick. Even with winter tires there's wheelspin for days. It hauls stuff though. Plenty of room for that. The audio quality is surprisingly not bad for only two speakers.

This thing's actually pretty fun to drive once you get the hang of it. I drive parts around from time to time and I tend to enjoy doing so.

First Gear is a new column, about a kid, a car lot full of new cars, and a habit of noticing random things. It's written from the view of a Ford dealer's lot attendent who for some reason thinks you care about the cars he spends very little time in. He also thinks you actually care about his random thoughts and will randomly post them to Oppositelock at his leisure. Just don't give him an excuse to break into full reviews. He can't handle that level of greatness.

We have a couple of those, some Chevy vans, Nissans, etc. I have to say the Chevy Express is my favorite. The Ford is okay, but the Chevy is just a tad better in nearly every area. I hate the big Nissans.

I don't have any experience with the Chevies or Nissans. The Nissans are the NV-something-or-other right?

The big NV1500 would be ok if it didn't have the turning circle of an aircraft carrier. The little NV200 is underpowered a bit, but that would be fine if the controls didn't annoy the crap out of me. The RAM Cargo (Caravan) is better than the little Nissan.
